Wrap it Up: An Easy Lunch Idea for Busy Nurses and Caregivers

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP…the sound of your alarm to get out of bed goes off. By the time you roll out of bed, get dressed, grab a bite to eat and fix your coffee, the last thing you want to spend time on is putting together a gourmet and healthy lunch to take to work. And to all you hard-working nurses and caregivers, I’m sure finding the time to make and pack a lunch every day is not always easy or convenient!

That said, wouldn’t life just be great if we all had personal chefs who took the time to make us lunches every day? Yes, it would, but there’s something called “reality” that we are all a part of.

After years of bringing my own lunch to work, I’ve found that making wraps out of anything in your fridge is easiest and fastest. Just make sure you have a consistent supply of some sort of pliable food to fold your wrap ingredients into: lettuce, pita bread, tortillas, seaweed, collard greens, etc.

Before I list some ideas, let me start off with the easiest wrap you can make:

Take your leftovers and wrap it. No matter what it is (unless it’s soup…that could get messy) make it a wrap! Don’t be afraid. Spaghetti sandwiches are a thing and are actually pretty good. Just add cheese (is that even a question?).
